The Reverend George Weeble
The Reverend George Weeble
liked to spend his holidays
visiting churches in foreign lands,
his parishioners called him:
the steeplechaser.
When I’m old and feeble,
George Weeble said,
when I retire,
I want to be
where the spires conspire
to show me the way.
Mish’s challenge over at dVerse is to write a quadrille (44 word poem) incorporating the word “steep”.
I like this – where the spires conspire to show me the way. Yes!

There is something to be said about that. Better a steeple than a screen…. I love the rhyming, and the image.

The name makes this quadrille so believable and has me wondering if there really is a Reverend George Weeble or if he is fictional. Nice take on the prompt.

Thanks Mish! (The Reverend George was born out of that double ‘e’ in “steep”)

What a great poem Jim, wonderful flow, very engaging! Great photo of two of the four spires on Gaudi’s breathtakingly amazing Basilica Sagrada Familia in Barcelona…
