Peripatetic Blues
The signs along the highway
are leaking semiotic fluid
psychotic cacti strike a calculated pose
linguistic lizards parse the parched desert floor
Slim’s feeling demotic,
neurotic, anecdotal, over-used
he’s looking for a sanctuary
the fisherman and the shoes
he’s got those my way is the highway
peripatetic blues.
Taking part in Open Link Night over at dverse.
Well…..I hope others will read this once and then read it a second time, but aloud. It has a wonderful sound and cadence to it….those blues indeed.

I had to toggle back and forth to dictionary.com to figure out what the words meant. This sounds like Hunter S.Thompson on a road trip — and he’s one of the lizards 😉 Fun poem, JIM.

Thanks Jade? I had the word “semiotic” in my head and I too went to the dictionary, and that’s how the poem started!!

No slight taken 🙂, that question mark was meant to be an exclamation! Glad you enjoyed the poem.
