Agronomy Road
There’s a distinct lack of bonhomie
on Agronomy Road,
the windows look pained
the crosswalks sullen,
hooded students slouch by
in a smart phone trance.
and the sky….
the sky is so tired of poetry
that it openly defies description.
I feel the urge to emit a cri de coeur
Laissez le Bontemps roulez
I shout
from the window of my Subaru Forester
let the good times roll,
let the good times roll
on Agronomy Road.

Love this, Jim. I’m so glad I live in place where I never see pained looking windows or sullen crosswalks, although we get the occasional hooded student in a smart phone trance! However, living where I do, I can’t imagine a sky tired of poetry.

As ever Jim, charming and idiosyncratic writing. It brought a smile to my face…

I wonder if it works? I think I will try it sometime. Even if it doesn’t work I know it will feel great!

Right away I was singing The Cars, “Good Times Roll,” in my head when I read your title! You captured the scene here perfectly, Jim. And you made me grin with your caveat at the end, too. 😀
