I Tried to Write a Country Song

I tried to write a country song
but my heart wasn’t in it
I tried and tried and tried again
but in the end I had to bin* it.

See, I don’t drink Jack Daniels
I don’t ride a horse
I don’t wear a cowboy hat
I’ve never been divorced

and I don’t own a pickup truck
or boots with fancy stitchin’
and the only range I’m home on
is that one in the kitchen **

Yes, I tried to write a country song
but my heart wasn’t in it
I tried and tried and tried again
but in the end I had to bin it.

  • the verb “ to bin” , i.e to throw something into the litter, the garbage bin

** poetic license, regarding my being at home in the kitchen.

Tking part in open link over a dverse.

JIM, at first I read the 4th line in the 1st stanza as:

but in the end I hadn’t bin* it. (as in been in love)

Please please please set this one to music!
