Walt Whitman Finds Inspiration In His Cutlery Drawer
Good tines
bad tines
a tine for every purpose under heaven
no, that’s not it
let the good tines roll
no, that’s not it
a penny for your forks
no that’s not it
a shaft of evening sun light
strikes a tarnished spoon
and flares in Walt’s left eye
he sees a road
he sees a fork
he sees a fork in the road
that’s it, he exclaims,
that’s it……
I should really get rid of that spoon.
