This poem is in response to the dVerse challenge to write a quadrille (44 word poem) about “earth”.
Earth (quadrille)
wind and fire
earthling, earthenware
is buried in
hearth, dearth, breath
can also be found in
don’t fear the reaper
clear the room
Neanderthal
the Lord’s Prayer;
David Bowie
was the man who fell to earth
Major Tom observed
that planet earth is blue.
I liked this line: “don’t fear the reaper”

Thanks Frank, once I started I began to see “earth” in a lot of different places.

A beautiful image to illustrate your quadrille, Jim. I like the way you’ve taken music references and buried them in earthy words and wordplay, especially the lines:.
‘…buried in
hearth, dearth, breath
can also be found in
don’t fear the reaper’
and
‘Major Tom observed
that planet earth is blue’..

Enjoyed the free flow, Jim. I started in the elemental rain, and in the end realized there was nothing I could do. Love the photograph of the earthling. I can see part of a crop circle in the foreground, visitors I guess.

Thanks Steve, hadn’t noticed the crop circle ⭕️, that explains why some of the people on the island have that previously abducted look.

Everywhere I look, there I am… said the earth, and David answered,
“You know, I’ll be free
Just like that bluebird
Now, ain’t that just like me?
Oh, I’ll be free“
Love this, take a Bowie
